yes it does
Some people get up at the break of day
Gotta go to work before it gets too late
Sitting in a car and driving down the road
It ain't the way it has to be

recap the week!
monday was hanoigang day1. aw. after a fruitless useless day of boring lectures stuck in horrible clinical clothes, we ended up at ronnie's place sorting and classifying the 4(++) gig's worth of photos (random flowers! blurred black crap! wtf!)and editing videos. much madness ensued (annexation of hon's camera + ronnie randomly jumping up and down-- yes! we are all very tired!-- + howling with laughter at 12am = great fun.)
tuesday was hanoigang day2, and the launching proper of Project Collage. after another horrible day of waiting 6 hours for 20 minutes of "education" (10 minutes of which involved breathing deeply while one's head was in a big plastic bag) jp and i went to collect the photos jp sent to 2nd avenue during the insanely-long break between lectures first, then went to buy dinner for the rest of the boys stuck in traffic. met up at jp's house for a satisfying dinner, then went upstairs to spend the next 3 hours cutting out photos of the Hon (all 50+ of them) to arrange on (shh) the 3M stickyboard. ho ho. my discovery of the possibility of action figures halted work for 1/2h while ny, ronnie and i laughed our eyes dry and rolled round and round on the carpet. i never knew rooting round clipped-out photographs looking for random colourful crap to stick onto a piece of cardboard could be so fun/exhausting. precision manoeuvring ("girl! your fingernails!") and deep aesthetic questions like where to put the mini-leonards chased away the clinics blueeeees.
wednesday was mr p. day. "naahse! naahse!" (ask me what this means, if you don't already know.) shout it (again) kai! p for...
wednesday was hon night. oblivious to our masterful (ok actually william and tianloon's) plan to throw her a SURPLISE! party, she invited us all to ps cafe for gigantic heavenly cakes and pretty good moussaka. (all the plates looked damn clean; cleared of any trace of sauce/meat/garnishing. and it wasn't just because they were so good. hoho at 26 bucks per main course...) after that the hanoigang adjourned to fort canning for walkies. history lessons! and the realisation that nuh really "encourages self-directed learning" (is total BS).
thursday was D-day! after clinics and an uneventful day of running around trying to see LPs, draw blood, and listen to heart murmurs (failed at all 3 tasks. what did i tell you about self-directed learning) we gathered at william's place and managed to successfully surprise her. omg.
and of course friday was more clinics madness. communications skills ("do you have accidents?") and omgwtfbbq. think someone's brain-mouth filter needs replacing, and for once it isn't mine. snark snark.
saturday and sunday were relatively uneventful. test drove the shittiest car in the world, the hafei lobo (refer to alvin's blog-- it only comes in a shity manual, so he had to drive it.) and drove round looking for tyre zhngs for chensv2. 400 bucks for tyres-- stunning! got more books to last me the week.
my csfc group rocks. hurray hurray!
monday sucked ass. and my phone is gonna cost 500 bucks to replace. i'm gonna just trade it in and see what i can get with the cash..
You've got to look at life the way it oughta be
Looking at the stars from underneath the tree
There's a world inside and a world out there
With that on tv you just don't care
They've got violence, wars and killing too
All shrunk down in a two-foot tube
But out there the world is a beautiful place
With mountains, lakes and the human race
And this is where I wanna be
And this is what I wanna do
--new order, krafty
it is, actually! even though we feel like overdressed idiots wandering the wards and pestering the poor housemen, patients and nurses, and even though i think i feel most productive eating breakfast and slacking in the students' lounge, i think this is for me (it better be. i've already paid 17k x 2 bucks for the privilege of getting this far) and i hope one day i get good enough to not-kill anyone i touch. primum non nocere! it remains to be seen if i can get past first. hoho.

you've actually stuck around this long? i'm surprised. well this is the end of that song, krafty.
Just give me one more day (one more day)
Give me another night (just another night)
I need a second chance (second chance)
This time I'll get it right (This time I'll get it right)
yeah, new order had to ruin a perfectly good song by throwing love into the mix, right at the end. aww.
i think we are all old enough to make our own decisions, and understand the consequences of our words and actions. getting sucked into the undertow of implications and nuances of what isn't said or wasn't done, the tension of our worn-out call-and-response inside jokes and the weary knowledge that the our circular, circumducting logic will bring us right back to the start-- but wasn't that a hell of a ride? wanna do it again? was that a nod? a wink? and we're off-- and you know it, and i know you know, and with a rush of adrenaline it shudders back into motion, and your throat sinks inescapably into your belly, and you can't help but grin and grit your teeth and hope for the best. we won't die. but we'll wish we did-- and we know it. what the hell. it's a good ride. and life is for living.
you only live twice or so they say
one life for yourself, one for the rest
and you, you drift through the years, and life seems strange
then one dream appears and love is its name
you only live twice or so they say
one life for yourself and one for your dreams
--coldplay, you only live twice
