"...now i tell you why africahn mahn
and africahn woh-mahn
find it very difficahlt to soock-ceed..."
probably because they're too busy making funky music. yes femi kuti rocked the house. ("tokyo ska-what?") definitely not a sitting-down concert; all three of us got up and danced, together with the overly-chatty crazy air drumming guy to the left, the th-th-thong woman, and the built-like-a-brick-wall nigerian woman. the three hypnotic dancers and their twirly whirly grass skirts provided much amusement-- if femi is as fertile as his dad (27 wives) and his songs (beng beng beng!) suggest i think his backup dancers had better watch out. ho ho.
more supping-- somehow carlsberg is better with a friend. i usually cant stand the pisslike stuff. hoho. and yes, everyone is interesting, if only we take the time to listen to what they have to say.
hmm i just found this randomly leafing through an old old poetry book... hafiz is apparently a sufi saint. for a saint he knows quite a bit about love-- wait. are sufi saints celibate? i should check that up. meanwhile--
We Should Talk about This Problem
There is a Beautiful Creature
Living in a hole you have dug.
So at night
I set fruit and grains
And little pots of wine and milk
Beside your soft earthen mounds,
And I often sing.
But still, my dear,
You do not come out.
I have fallen in love with Someone
Who hides inside you.
We should talk about this problem--
Otherwise,
I will never leave you alone.
