goodness, i am tired. batam was really exhausting, but a lot of fun, both in the extremepower! kinda way and in the lazyslack kinda way.
batam's waterfront is an incredibly laid-back place. imagine a tourist trap. now imagine a half-hearted sort of tourist trap. and then imagine that in slow motion. that's batam.
cableskiing was awesome. everyone managed to ski one round at least but i tell you joel was the proest. jumping start off the ramp on his first visit on an actual wakeboard, unbelievable! applause. seriously, much respect. much tramping around in the mud, getting bitten by insects (hon: "G-N-A-T-S!"), and spectacular falling by people-who-arent-joel (accompanied by appropriate choruses of "ohhhh!" and "owww."). weather was overcast and generally gloomy-looking but it turned out all for the best. if it were any hotter we would all have been burnt to smoking crisps. i think everyone was burnt after one whole day out in the not-sun. pink faces are an admirable testament to the power of uv rays. and i tell you cableskiing's blooooody tiring. everything was aching when i woke up the next morning. and that was in a comfy bed under comfy sheets, with 7h of sleep. wahh kao. lats, trapezius, scalenes, scm, everything! nyehh nyehh lousy me, whine whine. when i went home i ran a hot steaming bath and just sat in it, dozed, and read the latest issue of time till the water went cold. hurhur.
didn't get to go for the massage this time round cos we didn't have time. gokarting was fun, all the speeding and drifting, but resulted in palpitations and a hella lot of sympathetic stimulation cos we almost missed the ferry. tianloon's right, next time we go (if i'm touchwood organising this thing again i'll keep in mind that perhaps i should tell the gokarting people we need to be off by XX pm. forgetful blur distracted me. ugh.
animals are prettier and nicer over there. is this just one of those psychological holiday things like when you shell out ridiculous amounts of money for things that you normally wouldn't even consider back home? and the food is damn cheap. we had 6 courses of food and 1-4 drinks each for about 10 bucks per head. not bad eh.
in general, batamtrip was a hooray! success! haha i don't know about the others (due to my patchy dismal absentmindedness) but okay la everything worked out, noone died or lost their passports, wallets, handphones, bodyparts, or tempers. alright exhausted really. shall put up pictures when they come in, cant think of anything else to say so goodnight. shall go recuperate now.
